Venteon is Hiring a Design Engineer Near Jacksonville, AR

Venteon is currently looking for a Design Engineer with a globally recognized firearm manufacturer in Jacksonville, AR.

Summary of Position:
The Design Engineer is responsible for developing moderately complex sub-system designs for new products as well as design improvements for legacy products. Responsibilities include exercising sound engineering judgment and presenting analysis summaries supporting design decisions. This intermediate position in the R&D Department is generally intended for mechanical engineers with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and some relevant work experience. The Design Engineer works both independently and in a team environment with Designers, Design Engineers, Project Managers, and Test Technicians. A Design Engineer frequently initiates collaboration with other departments including product management and operations.

Requirements of the Design Engineer

  • B.S. Degree in related Engineering discipline required.
  • 3 years of minimum experience with defense contracts and product development desired.
  • Passion for ammunition reloading, shooting, and/or hunting is highly desired.
  • Microsoft Office and 3D CAD modeling experience required; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Overall, must be able to work in a team, lead, plan, and execute.
  • Quality of work must be very high.
  • Firearm and sports optics experience along with a knowledge of the shooting sports industry is strongly preferred.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication of complicated subjects is required. Organization of documentation and record keeping shall be to a high standard.
  • Actively maintain safe operations and work area by adhering to all safety, health, and quality programs, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Some travel is required.

Responsibilities of the Design Engineer

  • Create innovative design solutions.
  • Manage multiple design projects in a fast-paced development cycle.
  • Take new product concepts through all aspects of the product development cycle ultimately resulting in a producible and innovative product.
  • Interface with Marketing and customers to understand and document development requirements encompassing all trade channels of the business (i.e., commercial, law enforcement, international, and military).
  • Provide technical support for military, law enforcement, and international proposals.
  • Construct design models in 3D CAD, preferably using SolidWorks.
  • Create design drawings, supervise drafting activities, review, and approve engineering drawings.
  • Maintain standards for technical drawings, internal specifications, and related engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate prototype build, test, and ballistic evaluation.
  • Work with Sourcing to select manufacturing technologies and vendors.
  • Identify Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Support Sales and Agency Customers by troubleshooting and resolving field issues.
  • Make improvements of existing products. Investigate and solve problems in cooperation with Quality and Operations departments.
  • Make decisions on the disposition of nonconforming material.
